Flying Boat
Flying Boat depicts a Short Solent, typically used by BOAC for long distance routes to exotic destinations. Developed during the 1920s/30s, these aircraft were regarded as the future of long distance passenger and freight travel with their extraordinary ability to land on and take off from water. Passengers flew in considerable style and luxury with a silver-service on board comparable to its ocean liner counterparts; taking a leisurely 4 days to fly from Southampton to South Africa, stopping overnight in luxury hotels via Sicily, Cairo and Lake Victoria.
