Global DC3
Global DC3 depicts the aeroplane that revolutionised air transport in the 1930s/40s. Originally conceived as a collaboration between the Douglas Aircraft Co and TWA, it was first flown in 1933 providing a modern, stylish and safe method of travel. At a time when operators were heavily dependent on USA Mail contracts to be profitable, the DC3 enabled airlines to expand and develop new routes as they were able to carry passengers more economically. Such was its success that by 1939 over 90% of the world's airline traffic was flown via a DC3; thus it became known as "…the aircraft that changed the world".
